AP source: Bills in talks with veteran QB Brian Hoyer

A person with direct knowledge of the situation tells The Associated Press that the Buffalo Bills are in discussions with the representative of pending free agent quarterback Brian Hoyer. The person says the talks began Wednesday, when NFL teams have an open window to contact pending free agents a day before the NFL’s signing period begins.

Democrats on Saturday neared the end of a long, competitive battle to choose a new national party chairman who will attempt to turn widespread opposition to President Donald Trump into more election victories. Free Agency of course begins on March 9, but teams are able to contact players that are about to become FA’s two days before that, on March 7. That makes me wonder if the Bills, in selecting March 11 as their do-or-die date, wanted to be able to scour the FA QB market, get in touch with guys they might prefer to Tyrod, and see if they can reach deals with them BEFORE either firming up their ties to TT or cutting him loose. That would be a smart way to proceed.
