Kingsa Jake Muzzin fined $2,000 for embellishment

Jake Muzzin’s rocky 2016-17 season continued Friday, when the NHL fined him $2,000 for an embellishment incident during the Kings’ loss March 4 to the Vancouver Canucks at Staples Center, his second offense this season. Muzzin was fined under NHL Rule 64, which is designed to catch players who “repeatedly dive and embellish in an attempt to draw penalties.” Fines are set, starting with the second infraction, and can rise to $5,000 for the fifth offense by the player.

Jeff Carter’s scoring touch, leadership keep Los Angeles Kings competitive

It has been a trying year so far for the Los Angeles Kings, but Jeff Carter can’t be blamed as a co-conspirator for the team’s struggles.The 32-year-old center has been one of the brightest lights for the Kings, having scored a team-leading 24 goals and 43 points and helping keep the Kings in the hunt for a playoff spot. Carter, one of two selections for the host team in Sunday’s NHL All-Star Game at Staples Center, said he didn’t change his routine nor did he feel added pressure to produce when forward Marian Gaborik had to miss 22 games with a broken right foot and when goaltender Jonathan Quick injured his groin and has missed all but one game this season.”

Kings snap 4-game losing streak with 3-1 win over Devils

Logan Couture out against Kings with illness

Logan Couture will miss tonight’s game against the Los Angeles Kings with an illness according to Friend of the Blog Kevin Kurz. Kurz notes Couture missed the last nine minutes of Monday’s win over the Winnipeg Jets after blocking a shot with his right hand, but San Jose head coach Pete DeBoer said the two were unrelated and that Couture was battling the illness during Monday’s game.

Carter gets OT winner as LA Kings surge past Jets, 3-2

The Kings hit iron with an extraordinary number of shots Saturday night, culminating in a late backhand by Kyle Clifford that somehow struck both sides of Winnipeg’s goal without going in. “He can’t hit the net, but he can hit both posts,” Los Angeles defenseman Jake Muzzin said jokingly of his low-scoring buddy.
