Johnson leads Flames past Panthers 4-2 for 3rd straight

Chad Johnson made 36 saves during his first start in five games to lead the Calgary Flames past the Florida Panthers 4-2 on Friday night for their third consecutive victory. Sam Bennett, Mikael Backlund, Deryk Engelland and Troy Brouwer had the goals for the Flames, who scored three straight in less than five minutes midway through the first period.

Flanked by another veteran in Michael Frolik and rambunctious rookie Matthew Tkachuk, Calgary centre Mikael Backlund continues to be one of the hottest players in the NHL. Backlund scored twice in a 13-second span in the second period to break a 2-2 tie and also added an assist as the Flames beat the Florida Panthers 5-2 on Tuesday night .
