Spirited Evening at Somers Chamber’s Ribbon Cutting and Network Event for Unwined Winebar

Ribbon Cutting at Unwined In Baldwin Place, NY

On January 16, the Somers Chamber of Commerce welcomed UnWined Winebar & Spirits to the Somers community in a Ribbon Cutting and Network Event. Owners, Stephanie Small of Waccabuc & Brian Moss of Somers are long-time residents of Westchester County.

In November 2015, Uncorked Wines & Spirits opened in the Somers Commons Shopping Center 80 US-6, Baldwin Place, NY. The space next to Uncorked became available. While holding very successful wine tasting events, they utilized the space to create a Tasting Room as an extension of the shop.  “We realized with the laws in NY, we would be better served to keep them separate and have the license to serve full glasses of wine,” explains Stephanie, “This way if people want to rent the space for a private event, we can serve them a full glass of wine as well as cocktails.  Serving alcohol requires that you serve food  … that simply said is how UnWined was born!” UnWined Winebar & Kitchen officially opened on June 30, 2018

And what an array of delectable dishes they serve! Some of their popular dishes are:

  •       Gougéres: Gruyere cheese puffs
  •       Truffle Chickpeas
  •       Tiny Tuna Tacos: sushi grade tuna in a soy sauce with avocado puree served on a crispy won ton
  •       Banging Shrimp: fried shrimp with a sweet chili sriracha sauce
  •       Grilled Flatbreads: shrimp scampi, asparagus & mozzarella, stracciatella prosciutto pesto & arugula
  •       Pig in a Blanket: Waygu beef hot dog in phyllo dough pommery mustard sauerkraut
  •       Seared Scallops with black truffle cauliflower puree wild mushrooms crispy shallots thyme brown butter
  •       Bone in Braised Short Ribs with creamy polenta red wine reduction
  •       Crispy Asian Duck Roll with house made spicy duck sauce

All of the wines & spirits that are served at UnWined are available for purchase at Uncorked.  “We see so many of our clients from Uncorked joining us for dinner and drinks,” explains Brian, “We have gained some new customers at Uncorked from UnWined.”

Big Development Proposed for Baldwin Place

It would come with improvements to Route 6 such as sidewalks

The Crossroads at Baldwin Place project was unveiled in concept at a recent Somers Town Board meeting by Ken Kearney of Kearney Realty & Development Group in Mahopac, according to The Examiner.

Kearney wants to buy and repurpose the National Golfworx driving range.

He would put a mix of commercial office space and housing there, in four buildings, Neal Rentz reported. The 54 apartments would be mostly senior housing; the development could include eight units of affordable housing (which could be counted against Westchester County’s federally-mandated total).

Improvements to the property – and nearby – would include 4,000 feet of sidewalks and two pedestrian crosswalks on Route 6.

Town officials expressed enthusiasm, according to The Examiner. Read the entire article here.
