Bedford native Sloan Wainwright wants everyone to have themselves a merry little time at her annual holiday blowout this weekend. Wainwright, known for her rich contralto voice, personal lyrics and Earth mother vibe, has been assembling a big band and a chorus of voices to perform traditional, contemporary and original songs for 17 years now.

Charis Chamber Voices will ring in the holiday season with a program of carols and sacred music, concluding with seasonal sing-along favorites by Mendelssohn and Gruber. Two concerts are scheduled in area churches: on Saturday, Dec. 3, at 4 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church of Mount Kisco, 605 Millwood Rd. , and on Sunday, Dec. 4, at 4 p.m. at Bedford Presbyterian Church, Village Green.

Residents in Bedford's three hamlets are in for treats over the the next week, as a series of tree lightings and holiday shopping offers are planned. In Bedford Village, a Christmas tree lighting will be held on the Village Green on Friday at 7 p.m., according to an announcement from the Bedford Village Business Association.

Bedford Singer Salutes Old Hollywood At Playhouse Charity Event

Music from the the Golden Age of Hollywood will be brought to life when the Six of Clubs performs in Katonah Friday, Dec. 2. The performance has special meaning to Bedford resident and Music Publisher Nicholas Firth. As narrator and baritone of the group, he said it was a perfect fit to marry his group -- which will be highlighting songs from Hollywood movies -- to a movie theater that is beloved in the area.

Hoopla In Bedford: Harlem Wizards B-Ball Event To Raise Money For School

The show basketball team, famed for its tricks, antics and alley-oop dunks, has raised millions of dollars for schools, charities and foundations across the world. The Wizards will be entertaining the crowd with dribbling, passing, shooting and dunking as its players go toe-to-toe against the school district's all-star team of teachers and staffers Sunday, Dec. 4. The game starts at 2 p.m. in the Fox Lane High School gymnasium, 632 S. Bedford Road , Bedford.
