Bronxville police were busy last week, making a pair of arrests that included one man that was attempting to defraud his insurance company with a village address. On Wednesday, Feb. 22, 34-year-old Damion Cooke was stopped by police and arrested on a felony second-degree forgery charge after it was discovered that he forged official documents attempting to obtain a Bronxville address to defraud his insurance company, police said.

As one unexpected construction project "mercifully" comes to a conclusion in Bronxville, a new issue has emerged that is expected to cause additional roadway closures in the village. Bronxville High School junior Andrew Babyak took home three gold medals and a silver at the Section I Boys Swimming Championship finals at Felix Festa Middle School in West Nyack on Feb. 8. Babyak, who swims for the New Rochelle-Bronxville combined team, placed first in the 200-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle individual events. He also won a gold medal in the 200-yard freestyle relay as a member of the team, which currently holds the fastest time in the state in that discipline, and a silver medal as a member of the 400-yard freestyle relay.

Shortly before 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 12, police were dispatched to ACME on Cedar Street, where employees reported that an unknown man had just attempted to leave the store with a grocery cart containing what was determined to be $231.63 in products.
