Two Charged In Westchester Mail Theft Spree

Yonkers residents Steven Carson, 27 and Derek Brown, 28, were charged in White Plains Federal Court this week on charges claiming that they went on a mail theft spree involving United States Postal Service mailboxes. According to the complaint that was unsealed in court on Thursday, on April 2, Brown allegedly redeemed a stolen gift card at a Gap store on the same day a victim in Bronxville mailed the card.

Bronxville High School Students Celebrated For Efforts On Gun Safety

Students from the Bronxville High School were among those celebrated for taking a stand in the debate on gun violence at the New Yorkers Against Gun Violence Westchester Regional benefit, which was held in Eastchester on April 26. Seniors Viena Pentikainen and Kiki Shinsato, sophomore Esther Devitt and freshman Michael Randall were invited to attend by Scarsdale Assemblywoman Amy Paulin, who was one of the honorees at the event. Throughout the evening, the students heard from Paulin who spoke about the importance of listening to people with different points of view.

An investigation into spotty mail service in southern Westchester in recent months determined that "operational procedures were not being followed," leading to un-forwarded and undelivered mail, according to the Office of the Inspector General of the United States Postal Service.
