Thieves targeting the United States Postal Service mailboxes on streets in Westchester are becoming bolder, this time targeting a post office itself. In a statement, the Bronxville Police Department reported that it is investigating a series of mail thefts in the village, including items that were deposited in the mail slot at the lobby of the post office on Pondfield Road.

‘Operational Procedures Not Being Followed’ Led To Bronxville Mail Woes

An investigation into spotty mail service in southern Westchester in recent months determined that "operational procedures were not being followed," leading to un-forwarded and undelivered mail, according to the Office of the Inspector General of the United States Postal Service. Hundreds of complaints have been passed on to the USP.S - especially in Eastchester, Greenburgh, Pelham and New Rochelle - prompting the investigation into the service, which has plagued residents for months.

A Bronxville taxi driver was issued a summons after being argumentative and getting into a verbal disagreement with a potential passenger. Police in Bronxville issued a ticket on Saturday, Oct. 7 when a caller reported that he was having a disagreement with the driver, who refused to provide the cost of the fare from Lawrence Hospital into the Bronx.

Police: Suspects Flee On Foot After Crashing Stolen Car From New Rochelle

Police are on the hunt for two suspects that were allegedly operating a stolen vehicle in New Rochelle, crashed in Yonkers and fled on foot, Bronxville Police said. Officers were on patrol at approximately 3:40 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 6 when they spotted the vehicle, which had been reported stolen, commit a stop sign violation at the intersection of Parkway Road and Westside Circle in Bronxville.

Parts Of Southern Westchester Experiencing Water Pressure Issues

Some southern Westchester residents and businesses may see little to no water pressure on Tuesday morning as the region experiences service interruptions in certain parts of the area. According to officials, multiple municipalities - including Yonkers, Larchmont, Mount Vernon, New Rochelle, Eastchester and Bronxville - were all experiencing water pressure issues after a shaft at an upstate water infrastructure that supplies the area was shut down on Tuesday morning.

Bronxville School Staff Volunteer Monthly At New Rochelle Center

A group of teachers and staff members from Bronxville Elementary School in Bronxville set an example of giving for their students by volunteering their time each month at New Rochelle's Hope Community Services' soup kitchen. At the most recent visit Nov. 21, the group served more than 150 people macaroni and cheese, bread, salad, ham and cake, then stayed to clean up.
