Several Greenwich golfers qualify for Met Junior Championship

The 101st Met Junior Championship will take place July 16-19 at Siwanoy Country Club in Bronxville, N.Y., and several players from Fairfield County qualified to compete in the nation's oldest junior championship. Matt Camel, a Greenwich resident and rising senior at Brunswick School shot a 2-over-par 74 at a Met Junior qualifier last week at Fairview Country Club.

Bronxville Chess Team Takes Second In National Championship

Members of the Bronxville School chess team took home the silver medal at the Under-1900 division of this year's National High School Chess Championships, which were recently held in Columbus, Ohio, marking the team's best finish in a national event. School officials said that the students "demonstrated outstanding mental endurance and strategic planning over the course of the competition," as they competed against 1,500 of the nation's top players from 42 states.

Bronxville Track And Field Teams Star At Penn Relays

The Bronxville High School girl's varsity track and field team took their talents to the Penn Relays recently, narrowly breaking a school record as they took center stage at the popular event. At the annual Penn Relays, which brings some of the region's top student-athletes to the University of Pennsylvania for the track meet, members of the 4x400-meter relay team finished second, with a time of 3:56.82, breaking the previous record by .02 seconds.

A pair of well-intentioned New Rochelle teenagers from the Albert Leonard Middle School took to the field for a charitable cause at the second annual Be a Good Cookie Lacrosse Tournament. This week, Sam Rosenberg and Evan Phillips, both 13, raised more than $12,000 for children's cancer research after organizing the tournament as part of their mitzvah project in celebration of their upcoming Bar Mitzvah.

Piccolino has earned the following academic/athletic accolades: National Honor Society Secretary, World Language Honor Society, St. Michael's College Book Award in Service and Leadership, High Honor Roll and First Honor Roll.
