Bronxville Educator Helps Afghani Refugees Find Voice Through Theater

A Bronxville educator helped a group of Afghani refugees find their voice through the art of acting and stage performance. While traveling through Indonesia over the summer, Bronxville High School English teacher Victor Maxwell - who is also a professionally trained actor and playwright - was tasked with assisting an inexperienced group of refugees with a play in Malaysia to "help give them a voice."

Bronxville High School Student-Playwrights Meet with Broadway Actors

Eight Bronxville High School students, who have been writing one-act plays as part of an independent study funded by the Bronxville School Foundation, recently got the opportunity to meet the stage manager and some of the actors of a Broadway show. As members of the Bronxville Bards playwright group, sophomore Lyric Abbott, junior Allison Barker, junior Rachel Billings, senior Sara Conway, sophomore Olivia Doyle, junior Griffin Garbarini, and sophomores Mary Katherine Moynihan and Viena Pentikainen saw the original musical production of "Dear Evan Hansen," which was written by the Academy Award-winning duo of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.

Bronxville Elementary School First-Graders Reenact Folktales and Fables

The students learned how to get into character, act and sound like their characters, and speak clearly and confidently in front of an audience. BRONXVILLE, N.Y. -- Bronxville Elementary School first-graders brought the folktales and fables they've been reading in class to life when they worked with Rachel Berger, programs director for the Play Group Theatre, to act out emotions and plots from the different stories.

Young Technicians Support Bronxville District Through Student Help Desk

Tech-savvy students at Bronxville High School are taking part in an innovative yearlong program emboldening them to pursue their interests in technology and apply their knowledge to real-life situations. As members of the Student Help Desk, the teens are equipped to support the entire district and assist their peers and teachers in resolving a wide range of technology issues.
