Yonkers residents Steven Carson, 27 and Derek Brown, 28, were charged in White Plains Federal Court this week on charges claiming that they went on a mail theft spree involving United States Postal Service mailboxes. According to the complaint that was unsealed in court on Thursday, on April 2, Brown allegedly redeemed a stolen gift card at a Gap store on the same day a victim in Bronxville mailed the card.

Thieves targeting the United States Postal Service mailboxes on streets in Westchester are becoming bolder, this time targeting a post office itself. In a statement, the Bronxville Police Department reported that it is investigating a series of mail thefts in the village, including items that were deposited in the mail slot at the lobby of the post office on Pondfield Road.

Police Bust Two Shoplifters Attempting To Flee In Bronxville

Two alleged shoplifters were caught red-handed by police in Bronxville after attempting to steal from a pair of village shops on successive days. The Running Company on Pondfield Road reported to police that a man had just stolen several items and fled in the direction of Kraft Avenue at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 21. Police said the suspect was quickly apprehended by officers and identified as 55-year-old Middletown resident Alwarn Hillard, who was still in possession of $530 worth of clothes he had just stolen from the store.

Detectives from the Bronxville Police Department tracked down a 24-year-old woman who allegedly stole nearly $1,000 in merchandise from a high-end clothing store. Police were notified of a shoplifter at J. McLaughlin on Wednesday, Nov. 7 when the store manager witnessed Mount Vernon resident Syiesha Jackson walking out of the store with merchandise valued at $948.

Tuckahoe Man Cited For Leaving Scene Of An Accident Following Altercation

Members of the Bronxville Police Department received a call shortly after 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 17 from a passerby, reporting that the two men had gotten into an altercation. Police said that the subsequent investigation, which included the use of Village Surveillance Cameras resulted in a 50-year-old man from Yonkers being cited for improper passing, and a 68-year-old man from Tuckahoe being cited for improper passing, leaving the scene of an accident with property damage and hazardously crossing pavement markings.
