Five School Districts Now On Lockout As Police Search For Armed Suspect

Six school districts in Westchester are on lockout Tuesday as police are looking a man believed to be armed and dangerous on Route 119 in Tarrytown. The Elmsford Union Free, Hastings-on-Hudson, Dobbs Ferry and Ardsley school districts went into lockout after earlier lockouts were declared for Irvington and Tarrytown schools.

Armed Man Found In Search Resulting In Irvington Schools Closure

An emotionally disturbed man armed with a weapon was apprehended in Ardsley on Friday morning after police received a report that the man was near Cyrus Field Road, said the Irvington Police Department. The Irvington Police Department in conjunction with Westchester County, Greenburgh, Tarrytown, Dobbs Ferry, Ardsley, and Hastings police departments conducted a search and investigation into the report that was received around 12:40 a.m., police said.

Four Assemblymen Call On Cuomo To Authorize Municipal Occupancy Fees

Four local lawmakers have written to Gov. Andrew Cuomo reminding him of his promise to sign legislation authorizing the imposition of municipal occupancy fees in certain Westchester and Orange communities. In a letter dated Thursday, Dec. 29, the members of the state Assembly noted that in late 2015, the governor had vetoed a series of hotel occupancy tax bills that would have affected 13 municipalities in Westchester County - Greenburgh, North Castle, Tarrytown, Irvington, Ardsley, Elmsford, Dobbs Ferry, Hastings-on-Hudson, Sleepy Hollow, Tuckahoe, Mamaroneck, Harrison and Port Chester - and one in Orange County, Woodbury.
