Mother Sues Bars, Off-Duty Cop From New Rochelle For Crash That Killed Son

The family of a Dobbs Ferry man who was killed by a car driven by an intoxicated off-duty New Rochelle police officer has filed a lawsuit against the officer and three Westchester bars that the two frequented before the fatal crash. A lawsuit was filed in Supreme Court in Westchester by Penelope Ward, the mother of 27-year-old Isaac Ward, who was a passenger in the vehicle being driven by Harry Kyreakedes, who was sentenced to a term of between two and a half to seven years in state prison after pleading guilty to a felony charge of first-degree vehicular manslaughter and aggravated DWI last October.

Off-Duty Cop From Westchester Pleads Killer In Crash That Killed Friend

A New Rochelle police officer who was drinking off-duty when he crashed his vehicle in January, killing his best friend, has pleaded guilty to his role in the fatal incident. Harry Kyreakedes pleaded guilty in Westchester County Court on Friday to a felony charge of first-degree vehicular manslaughter and aggravated driving while intoxicated after being indicted by a grand jury in May. Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr. said that at approximately midnight on Jan. 2, Kyreakedes was out drinking with friends, including his victim, 27-year-old Isaac Ward, at a bar in Dobbs Ferry.

Scarpino, Jr. today announced that Harry Kyreakedes, 27, pled guilty before Judge Barry Warhit to one count of Vehicular Manslaughter in the First Degree, a class "C" Felony and one count of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated Per Se, an unclassified Misdemeanor, in the death of Isaac Ward, 28. On January 1, 2017, Kyreakedes, an off-duty New Rochelle Police Officer, was out drinking with friends, including the victim, at a bar in Dobbs Ferry. After a period of time, they drove to White Plains to frequent another bar.

SUV Gets Cut Off, Crashes Off Road Onto Roof On Saw Mill Parkway

A motorist walked away from a crazy car crash when he was cut off by another driver, lost control of his vehicle on the Saw Mill River Parkway in Dobbs Ferry, flew off the road and into a wooded area, and rolled onto its roof, according to Westchester County Police. The crash occurred around 7 p.m. Thursday when 36-year-old Raymond Gordon of the Bronx told officers another driver prevented him from getting off the parkway at Cyrus Field Road, causing him to lose control, of his Chevy SUV, said Kieran O'Leary, spokesman for the department.

Armed Man Found In Search Resulting In Irvington Schools Closure

An emotionally disturbed man armed with a weapon was apprehended in Ardsley on Friday morning after police received a report that the man was near Cyrus Field Road, said the Irvington Police Department. The Irvington Police Department in conjunction with Westchester County, Greenburgh, Tarrytown, Dobbs Ferry, Ardsley, and Hastings police departments conducted a search and investigation into the report that was received around 12:40 a.m., police said.
