Eastchester Holding Cancer-Fighting ‘Relay For Life’ Event

Hundreds, if not thousands, of folks will be lacing up their running shoes this spring all over Westchester to help fight a deadly disease. The American Cancer Society says that 13 Relay for Life events have been scheduled for May 20 through June 19. The community-led events will be held in: Eastchester, Mamaroneck, Chappaqua, Harrison, Katonah-Lewisboro, the Tarrytowns, Yorktown, Yonkers, Somers, Ossining and the Hendrick Hudson School District.

Eastchester Board of Fire Commissioners To Interview Possible Chiefs

The Eastchester Board of Fire Commissioners is scheduled to meet at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 25 to conduct interviews for the position of fire chief, according to a statement from board Chairman Dennis Winter. Set to take place at the Eastchester Fire Station #1, 255 Main St., Eastchester, the meeting will quickly break into an executive session to allow the board to discuss personnel matters and litigation, according to Winter, who said that two interviews for the position also will be conducted.

With Storm Approaching, Tuckahoe Schools Cancel Special Property Vote

With as much as a foot of snow expected to hit the region, the Tuckahoe School District has been forced to postpone a special community vote about whether or not to purchase additional property in Eastchester. In an effort to increase classroom space in the district as enrollment swells, the Tuckahoe Board of Education announced a proposal to purchase a property near William E. Cottle Elementary School in January, which was scheduled to be put to a special public vote on Tuesday.

Arthur M. Henle, 90, of Kimball Farms passed away peacefully Monday, March 13, 2017, at Berkshire Medical Center. A resident of Lenox since 2010, Arthur moved to the Berkshires from Eastchester, N.Y., residing in Pittsfield from 1987 until moving to Lenox.
