Mrs. Manto thoroughly enjoyed the seashore, tennis, Yankee baseball, reading on her kindle and spending quality time with her family. Mrs. Manto is survived by her three daughters, Mary Manto, Barbara Adams and her husband Steve, and Diane Forte and her husband Louis; grandsons, Brian Corbett, James Corbett and John Forte, all of Hastings-on-Hudson.

Norbert Sander, armory restorer and NYC marathon winner, dies

Norbert Sander, the only New Yorker to win the New York City marathon, who turned the Armory in Washington Heights into one of the country's premier venues for indoor track, died March 17. He was 74. His death was described as unexpected; no cause was given. The Armory, built in 1911 and once home to the city's leading track events, had closed to sports in 1985 and its cavernous hall had turned into a homeless shelter for 2,000 people before Sander decided to revive the place.

The first of WCT's three community open houses is set for 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 18. Talks about WCT's history and future plans, and tours of the space, will be given between 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. It will remain open until 12:30 p.m. to accommodate drop-ins. The newly renovated space previously housed a cabinet-making factory and mMuch of its original "industrial" look has been retained.

Jen Baquial, president of the Sirens Motorcycle Club of New York, volunteers her time to deliver breast milk to babies in need. Since New York's first milk bank opened its doors in September, business has been thriving, with babies in need -- especially preemies -- receiving pasteurized donor milk via Fed Ex from a facility just north of Manhattan.
