Mamaroneck Declares Snow Emergency Due to Blizzard Forecast

With as much as a foot of snow expected to hit the region, officials in Mamaroneck have declared a snow emergency that will be effective as of 12:01 a.m. on Tuesday. According to the New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, the state is anticipating that between 16 and 20 inches of snow may fall in the lower Hudson Valley, with more than a foot coming to upstate New York.

The Winter Storm Watch for Westchester, Putnam and Rockland issued Saturday in advance of the major Nor'easter expected to arrive in the area on Monday night was upgraded to a Winter Storm Warning late Sunday afternoon. A Blizzard Watch has been issued for Southern Westchester, New York City and Long Island, meaning there is a potential for falling and/or blowing snow with strong winds and extremely poor visibilities.

Senior goaltender Tommy Spero made 23 saves, but the Tigers offense had little bite against a speedy North team that controlled most of the game. Last year's state tournament MVP played well again for Mamaroneck but the Tigers never got the bounce they needed to even the score and force overtime after Spero gave up the game's lone goal on a deflection.

Westchester Pork Manufacturer Recalls Salami, Other Meat Products

A Westchester County pork manufacturer is recalling more than 5,000 pounds of salami products that were misbranded and contained an undeclared allergen. On Friday, the United States Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Services announced it was recalling 5,750 pounds of product from the Mamaroneck-based Picone Meat Specialities.

Engineer injured after falling from freight train

A freight train is stuck on the tracks in Mamaroneck today after the engineer was rushed to a hospital with a head injury. MTA police say the engineer of a freight train heading westbound was inspecting the top of the train after an antenna hit a bridge around 2 a.m. They tell News 12 that he hit his head on the bridge, started bleeding heavily from the head and fell onto the tracks.

Ex-Teacher From Mamaroneck School Gets Prison In Child Porn Case

A former religion teacher at the Westchester Day School in Mamaroneck who pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography -- including videos he had gotten mailed to the school where he worked -- will be spending some time behind bars. Lyle Kamlet, a Mount Vernon resident, was sentenced Tuesday to three years and three months in prison by Judge Kenneth M. Karas in federal court in White Plains, according to Preet Bharara, U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York.
