Larchmont Group Plans ‘Fight Fear With Facts’ Refugee Rally

Hearts and Homes for Refugees Larchmont Mamaroneck , a sister organization to Hearts and Homes of Pelham, is holding a march and rally on Sunday, Feb. 12 to raise awareness of the refugee situation and to provide facts to fight fears people may have as a result of misinformation or too little information. The march will start at 2 p.m. at Flint Park in Larchmont and end with a rally at the Kemper Memorial at the Mamaroneck High School.

Westchester Communities, Colleges Set ‘Relay For Life’ Events

Hundreds, if not thousands, of folks will be lacing up their running shoes this spring all over Westchester to help fight a deadly disease. The American Cancer Society says that 13 Relay for Life events have been scheduled for May 20 through June 19. The community led events will be held in: Eastchester, Mamaroneck, Chappaqua, Harrison, Katonah-Lewisboro, the Tarrytowns, Yorktown, Yonkers, Somers, Ossining and the Hendrick Hudson School District.

That's because, according to Zuckert, Larchmont itself is practically a character as the town shapes his character's stories.

Mamaroneck Nonprofit Raises Funds For Pediatric Cancer At Purchase Event

Pediatric Cancer Foundation , the 46-year-old, Mamaroneck-based nonprofit committed to fighting pediatric cancer, raised more than $225,000 at its Rock The Cure Gala Wednesday, Nov. 2. The event, which featured legendary rock music by Unforgettable Fire, a world-renowned U2 cover band, was all about generating funds to support research, state of the art equipment/instruments and patient/parent care for doctors at the hospitals PCF supports. Held at the Brae Burn Country Club in Purchase, the gala -- which attracted more than 250 attendees -- honored the memory of Paul Ulysses Jimenez, a 10-year-old Westchester County boy who passed away in January, 2016, from Rhabdomyosarcoma , a rare form of cancer of the skeletal muscles.

Mamaroneck Fitness Studios Encourage ‘Sweating For Cure’

Three different Mamaroneck studios are collaborating this Sunday to bring "Sweat for a Cure," offering a variety of classes to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Push Fitness is partnering with Fiore Pilates and Tovami Yoga to present the fundraising event, "bringing people together for a great cause through a day of fitness and fun, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m." The day will feature back-to-back classes.
