Mamaroneck Hockey Loses 1-0 in Semifinal

Senior goaltender Tommy Spero made 23 saves, but the Tigers offense had little bite against a speedy North team that controlled most of the game. Last year's state tournament MVP played well again for Mamaroneck but the Tigers never got the bounce they needed to even the score and force overtime after Spero gave up the game's lone goal on a deflection.

Stepinac High School Crusaders to Host Iona Prep Gaels

The historic rivalry between the basketball teams of Archbishop Stepinac High School Crusaders and the Iona Prep Gaels will play out during an exciting tripleheader to be held at Stepinac, 950 Mamaroneck Avenue, White Plains, NY on Friday, February 3. The excitement gets underway at 4 PM when the freshmen teams square off, followed by a junior varsity game at 5:45 PM. But, the real fever-pitched moment for fans from both schools begins 7:30 PM when the varsity Crusaders and Gaels compete in a CHSAA game that will be broadcast live by News 12 Varsity.

Mamaroneck Hockey Holds onto Top Rank

The Mamaroneck Varsity Ice Hockey team is the top ranked team in New York, and with a 10-0-1 record next to its name, it's hard to dispute that ranking. Standing in the way of the Tigers' 10th win of the season was longtime rival Suffern, whom Mamaroneck dispatched by a 5-1 score in the Section 1 Final last February.

With the initial release of the New York State Sportswriters Association's Ice Hockey rankings on Tuesday night, the Mamaroneck Tigers found themselves in a familiar place: number one. The lauded ranking comes as a result of the Tigers coming off of last year's state championship and their 5-0 start to this year.

Mamaroneck Football Still Hoping to Rally

The Tigers, who have started the season 1-3, are showing more signs of repeating last year's disappointing effort, a season in which they finished 2-7, rather than the success they experienced two years ago when they were 7-2. Asked what the Tigers' early season struggles can be attributed to, Stuart Williamson '17, said, "Football, more than any other sport, requires everything to work together like a machine.
