Lakeland Students Flip Flapjacks For Children’s Hospital

Ten students from Lakeland High School's AP chemistry class recently went skillet-to-skillet in a Flip For Kids pancake-flipping contest to help raise money for Maria Fareri Children's Hospital, a member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network. The event, which is part of a month-long fundraiser for children's hospitals in cooperation with IHOPA Restaurants nationwide, was held Feb. 27 at the IHOP restaurant in Mohegan Lake.

Original Annies Reuniting In Mohegan Lake To Celebrate 40th Anniversary

The five women who played the Little Orphan Annie in the original Broadway production of "Annie" will be at the Winery At St. George, at 1715 East Main Street, to tell stories and perform songs on April 30 at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m, in celebration of the musical's 40th anniversary. Fans can expect to see Andrea McArdle, Sarah Jessica Parker, Allison Smith, Alyson Kirk and Shelley Bruce, who all played the red-haired moppet from 1977 to 1983.

Mohegan Lake Man Violates Order Of Protection, Police Say

Police said that on Tuesday, Feb. 7, Dominic Mignogno, 59, was transported from the Westchester County Department of Corrections to Yorktown Justice Court, where he was placed under arrest for criminal contempt after a warrant was put out for his arrest. According to police, last December, officers launched an investigation into a report of a violated order of protection, which determined that at approximately noon on Nov. 21, Mignogno had in fact communicated with his victim by mail, violating the order that was issued by the Yorktown Justice Court.

Westchester Pet Store Owner Permanently Barred For Animal Cruelty

A pet store owner with stores in the Hudson Valley has been permanently barred from working as a pet dealer and will pay $20,000 in fees and penalties as part of a plea agreement for repeated animal cruelty, New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said Monday afternoon. Richard Doyle of Mahopac, who owned and operated three retail pet stores in Westchester and the Hudson Valley: American Breeders, Inc. in Wappingers Falls; Puppies and Kittens in Mohegan Lake, and Best Breeds, Inc. in Larchmont, took part in practices that resulted in sick dogs being sold and even dying, said a statement from Schneiderman.

A Mohegan Lake teenager found himself on the wrong side of the law earlier this month after he was caught with several ounces of marijuana in Yorktown. On Monday, Yorktown Police announced that shortly before 7 p.m. on Dec. 2, officers were alerted to a "suspicious vehicle" parked at Michael Robert Salon and Spa, where an investigation revealed that a 17-year-old was in possession of 3.67 ounces of marijuana in his BMW.

Yorktown Man Charged With Driving With Suspended License

Yorktown police have charged a 51-year-old resident of Mohegan Lake with driving without a valid license, police said. The arrest came about when an officer assigned to investigate a disabled vehicle blocking a lane at the intersection of Route 6 and Lee Boulevard conducted a routine check of the operator's driver's license on Friday, about 1:29 p.m., according to police.

Teen Charged With Starting Fire At Condominium In Yorktown

A 13-year-old Mohegan Lake teen was charged with two counts of juvenile delinquency for setting a fire at a condominium in Yorktown, according to Yorktown Police. The teen, who would have faced charges of felony arson and felony criminal mischief if he was an adult, was arrested on Thursday, Nov. 3, after he set a garbage can on fire at the Landing Condominium complex at 209 New Chalet Drive, police said.

New York State police are asking for the public's help in identifying a woman wanted on numerous charges including trying to cash a stolen check at the M&T Bank in Mohegan Lake. On Aug. 29, the suspect, driving a black Hyundai Santa Fe with New Jersey plates, that were also stolen from Linden, N.J., attempted to cash the check that was reported stolen Aug. 25 from a car in Wayne, Pa.
