Mount Vernon Artists Receive $55K In Grant Monies

ArtsWestchester was joined by New York State and Westchester County elected officials on Friday, Feb. 3, for a ceremony to present $55,440 in Arts Alive grants to 29 local arts projects throughout Westchester County, including those in Mount Vernon: Mount Vernon Public Library and PJS Jazz Society. Arts Alive grants are made possible with funds from the Decentralization Program , a re-grant program of the New York State Council on the Arts, with the support of Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature, according to a release.

Mayor Richard Thomas and the City of Mount Vernon will hold a celebration commemorating the 225th anniversary of the final ratification of the Bill of Rights, on Monday, Dec. 19. Mount Vernon Receives $2 Million To Restore Memorial Field, Improve Sewers

The revitalization efforts at historic Memorial Field got a big boost on Thursday, when New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo awarded Mount Vernon $2 million at the Regional Economic Development Council. On Thursday, Mount Vernon was awarded $1,641,928 to investigate and repair the city's sewer infrastructure; $520,000 for the redevelopment of Memorial Field and $40,000 to develop an arts and cultural master plan for the city.
