Inventor and InventHelp Client Develops Novelty Selfie-Taking Accessory

Selfies are all the rage, but there are some key problems and even a danger associated with taking them. "I first thought of this invention when I heard what happened to one of my friends while out with her friends one night," said an inventor from New Rochelle, N.Y. "She was celebrating at a crowded bar in NYC and wanted to take a selfie with the birthday girl.

2016 NRFD Promotion and Awards Ceremony

The New Rochelle Fire Department hosted their annual Promotion and Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, October 19th at the Council Chambers in City Hall. Chief Louis DiMelgio and Deputy Chief Scott Bradley were joined by Mayor Noam Bramson, City Manager Chuck Strome, staff and families as they honored 32 Firefighters with the Life Saving and Unit Citation Awards.

How did New Rochelle look from the air in the 1930s - 1950s? How does it look today? Visitors to the New Rochelle Public Library's Lumen Winter Gallery will have the opportunity to see first-hand during the library's November exhibit, "A Bird's Eye View of New Rochelle, Past and Present." Over 100 images will be on display, juxtaposing historic aerial and birds-eye view photographs from the library's local history collection with contemporary aerial shots that were captured this past summer by local photographer Louis Vaccaro.

Mens Soccer Advances to Championship With 6-0 Win Over Berkeley

Despite Mother Nature's dose of cold rain and heavy wind and a determined upset bid by Berkeley College, the College of New Rochelle Mens Soccer team erupted for five second half goals to defeat the Knights 6-0 in the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Semi-finals Saturday night. The win moves CNR to the championship game tomorrow at 3:00pm against the 3rd seeded SUNY-ESF.

Animal advocates are searching for the owner of a dog found Monday near the village's border with Hastings, according to a post on the Humane Society of Westchester at New Rochelle's Facebook page . An image of the lost pet, an adult female, has been shared nearly 130 times since it was first posted to social media, according to the post.

Kids, PJs, Books: Ward School’s Read-A-Thon Draws Authors, Raises Funds

Normally, parents and educators might despair of ever being able to tear kids away from their electronic "devices" long enough to read a real book, but that's not a problem at the William B. Ward Elementary School in New Rochelle. All month long, the students there have been eagerly participating in a read-a-thon, the school's annual fundraiser, says its organizer, parent Melissa Panszi-Riebe.
