The New Rochelle High School Class of 2018 graduated this afternoon in a commencement ceremony filled with advice, encouragement and challenges for the members to be the best that they can be. "I call on the Class of 2018 to find a path that each of you finds genuinely purposeful," valedictorian Elijah Pomerantz said to the sea of 670 fellow purple-robed seniors on the high school's McKenna Field.
The New Rochelle High School Class of 2018 has marked a rare achievement - all eight Ivy League colleges have accepted at least one of the school's graduating seniors. With acceptances rolling in, 13 members of the class have chosen to become freshmen at seven of the Ivy League schools.
Executives at Plainview-based construction firm EW Howell helped cut the ribbon last week on its latest project, a seven-story residence hall at Iona College in New Rochelle. Dubbed the North Avenue Residence Hall, the 100,000-square-foot complex provides accommodations for 310 students in suite-style apartments and also includes 7,000 square-feet of retail space on the ground level, according to a company statement.
