New Rochelle Board of Education Sends Grade-Fixing Report to NYSED Test Security Unit

New Rochelle Board of Education President Jeffrey Hastie sent a letter to New York State Education Department Commissioner of Education MaryEllen Elia on December 12, 2018 in which he does not accurately state the circumstances of the hiring of T&M Protection Resources, LLC, the nature of the investigation by T&M or the role played by the test integrity unit where the report was sent. In the letter, Hastie attributes the investigation to New Rochelle High School teacher Anthony Stirpe sending a packet of documents to then Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian Osborne which Hastie claimed identified "improper practices relating to our online credit recovery system, Apex Learning."

Report Card Schedule Announced

The City School District of New Rochelle has announced its schedule for the distribution of report cards and secondary school Interim Progress Reports for the remainder of the 2018-2019 school year. First-period report cards for New Rochelle High School and both middle schools were posted on the Home Access Center yesterday and are expected to arrive in the mail by December 3. IPRs, which are given only to middle and high school students, were distributed for the first marking period in October.

Second Annual Take a Student Ambassador to Work Day

Mercy College Awarded Over $1.4 Million by National Science Foundation

Mercy College was awarded a $1.4 million grant by the National Science Foundation's Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program for a six-year project. The project will prepare 14 in-service master math and science teachers to become Master Teacher Fellows and leaders in their high-need school districts - Elmsford, New Rochelle, Port Chester and Yonkers - with a particular focus on recruiting teachers from underrepresented groups in STEM fields.
