The City School District of New Rochelle calendar for 2018-2019 includes a newly added holiday: the Islamic celebration of Eid al-Fitr, which will be observed on June 5, 2019. Eid al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting, and falls on the first day of Shawwal, the 10th month of the Islamic calendar.

Scarpino, Jr. announced today that the Westchester County Grand Jury has indicted Z'inah Brown for the January stabbing death of another New Rochelle High School student, 16-year-old Valeree Schwab.
