Fugitive Teen In New Rochelle HS Stabbing Caught In Alabama

Following a four-month manhunt, FBI investigators have tracked down a 15-year-old suspect in Alabama allegedly involved in a stabbing in New Rochelle in January. At approximately 8:50 a.m. on Jan. 18, the New Rochelle Police Department received a call from security guards at the high school reporting that a stabbing had occurred at the school, and the suspect was seen on video fleeing the building, New Rochelle Police Capt.

Statue Planned For ‘Ragtime’ Author E.L. Doctorow In New Rochelle

State Assembly member Amy Paulin, Mayor Noam Bramson and Helen Doctorow, widow of author E.L. Doctorow, were at the New Rochelle Public Library on Thursday morning, Feb. 23, to announce a $125,000 grant from New York State that will support the Doctorow Legacy Initiative, honoring the acclaimed author in the city that inspired his best-known work, "Ragtime." The Doctorow Legacy Initiative also introduced sculptor Derek Chalfant, whose proposal was selected in an international RFP process last summer.
