New Rochelle Educator Encourages Students To ‘Find Their Passions’

After more than two decades serving students at New Rochelle High School, longtime educator Debbie Minchin is showing no signs of slowing down. Minchin, an AP United States Government teacher in the district continues to follow her passion for education as she continues her 25th year educating students both in and out of the classroom, encouraging them to follow her lead.

Kids, PJs, Books: Ward School’s Read-A-Thon Draws Authors, Raises Funds

Normally, parents and educators might despair of ever being able to tear kids away from their electronic "devices" long enough to read a real book, but that's not a problem at the William B. Ward Elementary School in New Rochelle. All month long, the students there have been eagerly participating in a read-a-thon, the school's annual fundraiser, says its organizer, parent Melissa Panszi-Riebe.

The Loukoumi Make A Difference Foundation united over 50,000 children across the country on National Make A Difference Day, October 22, 2016, as part of its annual Make A Difference With Loukoumi Project. Loukoumi and author Nick Katsoris also embarked on a school bus filled with children and supporters that day, all doing good deeds at various bus stops in the Westchester and Bronx NY area including The Westchester Children's Museum, Fordham University, Finding Hope: The New Yonkers Animal Shelter and Holy Trinity Church in New Rochelle.
