Sporting serving aprons, Interim Superintendent Dr. Magda Parvey and New Rochelle City Manager Charles Strome III stood along with other city administrators and staff in the House IV cafeteria of New Rochelle High School, serving 150 residents at the annual Thanksgiving Community Dinner. More than a dozen local businesses made the evening possible with their donations, including 15 turkeys from ShopRite.

Through a bid process, the City School District of New Rochelle has named a single company, Vita Vending, also known as Healthy Vending Machines New York, to install and supply all machines in the District.

The City School District of New Rochelle calendar for 2018-2019 includes a newly added holiday: the Islamic celebration of Eid al-Fitr, which will be observed on June 5, 2019. Eid al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting, and falls on the first day of Shawwal, the 10th month of the Islamic calendar.

The "Hub" Court designation will make drug treatment courts accessible to individuals who suffer from alcohol and drug dependency and military veterans who have had run-ins with the law.

Four Westchester Cities Designated As ‘Hub’ Drug Treatment Courts By DA

Four of the Hudson Valley's largest cities have been designated as "Hub" drug treatment courts by Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr. Mount Vernon, New Rochelle, White Plains and Yonkers have been designated as "Hub" Courts, which will make drug treatment courts more accessible to those suffering from substance dependency and military veterans that may be dealing with combat-related disorders and had run-ins with law enforcement. The Westchester County Drug Court Enhancement Project - which will be under the direction of Ninth Judicial District Administrative Judge Alan Scheinkman - is aimed to focus on the needs of those suffering from opioid use disorders and justice-involved military veterans.

New Rochelle Remembers WWII Veteran Bill Moye

New Rochelle remembered World War II veteran William Francis "Bill" Moye on Friday, celebrating his life and service during a special ceremony following his death earlier this year at 102 years old. A tree dedication was held at 111 Lockwood Avenue on Friday for the lifelong New Rochelle resident, who "was an integral and beloved member of his community who remained active until the time of his passing," officials said.
