In light of recent devastation from hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria, Habitat for Humanity of Westchester is holding a music event to raise money for hurricane relief efforts in Houston, Florida and Puerto Rico. This event will showcase local talent and cap off a wonderful week full of arts and events in conjunction with the New Rochelle Arts Festival.

Columbus Rallies to Help Victims of Natural Disasters

Columbus Elementary was a hive of activity on Saturday as students, parents, teachers and community members poured into the school carrying food and supplies for victims of a devastating earthquake in Mexico and storms in the Caribbean. Principal Michael Galland said the school agreed to serve as a collection site for donations following a request from the Fundacion Manos de Esperanza, a New Rochelle charity.

Coastal Flood Advisory In Effect For New Rochelle

Some much-needed rain will fall in the area through early Wednesday, with some spots in the southern portion of the area seeing possible coastal flooding. A storm system arriving in the area in the early morning hours on Tuesday, combined with strong winds and high tide coupled, have resulted in a Coastal Flood Advisory being issued by the National Weather Service for Southern Westchester from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday.
