Ossining’s Mike Risko Music Named Westchester ‘Outstanding Family Business’

Mike Risko, of Mike Risko Music in Ossining, was recognized as the owner of one of Westchester County's most outstanding family-owned businesses at an awards ceremony in White Plains last week. The company, in business for 22 years as a music store, school and performing arts center, was one of 26 family-owned businesses in Westchester and Fairfield County, Conn., honored this year by Westfair Communications, Inc., publisher of the Westchester County Business Journal, Fairfield County Business Journal and WAG, a regional lifestyle magazine.

Northern Westchester Man Pleads Guilty To Check Forging

An Ossining man pleaded guilty to multiple felony charges following a two-year investigation by the Westchester County District Attorney's Office. Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino said Friday that 24-year-old Devante Rainey has pleaded guilty to individual counts of identity theft and criminal possession of a forgery device for his role in an elaborate scheme.

Search On For Ossining Teen Missing Since Dec. 11

Authorities in Westchester County, New York City and elsewhere are searching for a 15-year-old Ossining girl missing for more than three weeks. Shilah Carter, whose is to celebrate her 16th birthday on Jan. 8, is believed to have run away on Dec. 11, according to the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services .

Riverkeeper Applauds Indian Point Closing

On Monday, Entergy, which owns Indian Point, announced it will close the nuclear plant by 2021 as part of an agreement with Riverkeeper, an Ossining-based organization dedicated to defending New York's waterways. As part of the agreement that was brokered with Entergy and New York State, Riverkeeper agreed to drop its lawsuits against the plant.
