Pelham Hockey Continues Quest For First NYSPHSAA Championship

It was a four-peat for the Pelham Memorial High School hockey team, who once again hoisted the Section 1 Division II title trophy over their heads over the weekend after a lopsided win over John Jay at the Brewster Sports Arena. In front of a packed house in Putnam County, the Pelicans made it look easy, skating to a 6-1 win over the Indians, marking their fourth consecutive championship.

Baseball Star Paddy Smith of Pelham

Recently I received a copy of the new book "Paddy Smith: Dexter Park's Eternal Firebrand" by Thomas F. Smith, a grandson of Lawrence Patrick "Paddy" Smith of Pelham. The book is an entertaining and informative account of the storied baseball career of Paddy Smith, a Pelham resident and baseball star who briefly made it to the major leagues during the 1920 season.

Pittsfield’s L’Hote, Lee’s Nason Honored at Miss Hall’s School

Miss Hall's School has announced that four of its student-athletes have been named league all-star recognitions for the second consecutive year, recognizing their performances during the fall athletics season. Seniors Simone Brown, of Pelham, N.Y., and Mikala L'Hote, of Pittsfield, were again named all-stars for the Western New England Prep School Volleyball Association , while seniors Diamond Best, of Danvers, and Sally Nason, of Lee, were again named all-stars for the Women's Western New England Prep School Soccer Association .

Paralympian Inspires Pelham Students

Students at Colonial Elementary School in Pelham recently received a visit from athlete Jaclyn Smith, who helped Team USA win a silver medal in para-rowing at the 2016 Paralympic Games. Smith, a Long Island native who is legally blind, was welcomed into the Colonial School gym with chants of "USA, USA.

Pelham Student-Athletes Set To Take Their Talents To The College Level

Some of Pelham Memorial High School's best and brightest athletes have made it official and will be taking their talents to the next level when they graduate and head to college in the fall. On Wednesday, in front of a crowd of friends, family, faculty members and well-wishers, four Pelham star student-athletes signed their national letters of intent to continue their careers at the collegiate level.

Shane Macdonald Named Pelham Athlete Of The Week

A Pelham Memorial High School senior who led his football team during an Oct. 29 playoff game has been named the district's Athlete of the Week. On defense, Shane Macdonald had three solo tackles and assisted on six others during the playoff game against Gorton, according to the district.
