Gusty Winds, Cold Will Be Followed By Snow In Tarrytown, Sleepy Hollow

Temperatures as low as 30 degrees below average hit the Hudson Valley on Thursday and another day of frigid conditions is in store Friday before temperatures begin to climb as a system bringing snow and ice moves through the area early Saturday morning. After real-feel temps overnight at or below zero degrees, the sun returns Friday, but so too will the frigid temps, with the high in the low to mid 20s and real-feel temps in the single digits and, in areas farther north, below zero.

Leonard B. Sand, Yonkers Segregation Case Judge, Dies At 88

Leonard B. Sand, 88, of Sleepy Hollow, best known as the federal judge who presided over the landmark case in which he found Yonkers officials had intentionally segregated public housing and schools, died on Saturday, Dec. 3, according to the New York Times. Sand, who also lived in Pound Ridge for many years, was best known for his work on the Yonkers case in which he ordered the city to come up with a plan that would offer low and moderate-income housing in mostly white neighborhoods.
