Somers Girls Earn Girl Scouts’ Ultimate Honor – Prestigious Gold Award

Two members of Somers Girl Scout Troop 2088 just earned the highest award a Girl Scout can earn - the Gold Award. Amy Rios, a senior at Somers High School, and Kiersten Hughes, a Somers resident who attends Maria Regina High School in Hartsdale, were recognized for their individual projects at the Girl Scout Heart of the Hudson Gold Award Ceremony Saturday at the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel.

Missing Katonah Man Found, State Police Say

The 41-year-old man who went missing in Katonah Friday night was found Saturday morning, state police said in an announcement just before 9 a.m. At the request of State Police in Somers, a Missing Person Alert has been issued by the Division of Criminal Justice Services related to the disappearance of a 41-year-old Northern Westchester man. Reiko Imazaki of Katonah is described by authorities as an Asian male wearing a black hat and green overcoat.

Somers Volunteer Takes Animal Rescue In Different Direction

The first to find a home was a dachshund from a high-kill shelter in Harlem, but the group of Bergen, Rockland and Tolland County women who placed him have much more in store for animals in need. Real Dog Rescue was founded last December by five friends who met through their work at Oakland's RBARI and left to take things in a different direction: "Our mission is to take in every dog that we can, regardless of their age, breed, medical condition or where they come from," Chapman told Daily Voice.
