Off-Duty Police Officer Charged In Fatal Westchester Crash

An off-duty New Rochelle police officer who had a blood-alcohol content nearly three times the legal limit has been charged with vehicular manslaughter following a crash that killed his passenger on Mamaroneck Avenue in White Plains early Monday morning, according to multiple reports. Harry Kyreakedes, who was seriously injured in the crash and being treated at Westchester Medical Center, has been with the New Rochelle PD for "a little over a year," according to city Manager Chuck Strome.

Vigil Honors White Plains Man 20 Years After Slaying

The 20th anniversary of the shooting death of Charles Campbell was marked with a somber vigil Monday outside the Westchester County Courthouse in White Plaines, according to lohud.com. Family and friends of Campbell, a White Plains sanitation worker, gathered to remember how his life was cut short after an argument on Oct. 3, 1996, outside a Dobbs Ferry delicatessen.

The new head of school, John Manganiello , has worked in private schools for more than 18 years and, most recently, served as assistant head of a middle school in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. Greenwich Education Group , which owns and operates the independent day school on West North Street in Stamford, said Hafer has been named the director of gifted education for the organization.
