Students in Team 8D at Highlands Middle School in White Plains participated in their Third annual Milk Carton Fundraiser this year. The students raised more than $2,000 for their selected foundation, Candlelighters NYC, an organization dedicated to helping families get through the difficult times when a child is diagnosed with and being treated for cancer.

Stepinac Students Collect More Than 25,000 Cans Of Food During SOUPer Bowl

Archbishop Stepinac High School students of White Plains recently pitched in to help feed the hungry and homeless by collecting more than 25,000 cans of food and other items for the school's annual food drive known as SOUPer Bowl. Pelham High School Junior Takes First Place at Burke’s Brain Bee

Emily Xue, a Pelham Memorial High School junior, placed first in the sixth annual Brain Bee, held Wednesday, Feb. 1, at Burke Rehabilitation Hospital in White Plains. This local championship for the International Brain Bee is an annual, not-for-profit neuroscience competition for high school students and is designed to encourage them to learn more about the brain while inspiring them to pursue careers in neurology and neurological research, according to a release.

McKay OK’d Controversial Defense In Chappaqua Abuse Suit On Lawyers’ Advice

Chappaqua Superintendent Lyn McKay said she was the one who signed off on a controversial legal defense in a lawsuit against the school district pertaining to sex-abuse allegations against a former teacher. McKay said that the decision to do so was because of legal advice from two law firms: the district's regular counsel of four decades, Shaw, Perelson, May & Lambert, and Henderson & Brennan, a White Plains firm assigned to the district by its liability insurance company.
