Tonight: White Plains Speaker Cites Importance Of Constitutional Convention

The topic may sound dull and unimportant, but in these tumultuous, changing times -- it may be time for a Constitutional Convention. That's one line of thought presented by the League of Women Voters of White Plains which has invited the public to attend an information program Tuesday, Feb. 7 on whether to convene a New York State Constitutional Convention.

Larchmont, Mamaroneck Lions Clubs Are Among Oldest Worldwide

Both clubs are among the original members of the International Lions, the largest service organization in the world, which will celebrate its 100th Anniversary in 2017. Both clubs are working together and are looking to expand joint efforts with other clubs in the Sound shore area, from New Rochelle to Rye, and over to Eastchester and White Plains, he told Daily Voice.

French-American School Lawsuit Appealed

The City of White Plains has appealed a lawsuit filed by the French-American School of New York that challenges the city's denial of a proposed school at the former Ridgeway Country Club. In an appeal to the Supreme Court's Appellate Division, Second Department, the White Plains Corporation Counsel questioned whether state Supreme Court Judge Joan B. Lefkowitz can order the city to close part of Hathaway Lane and approve a site plan for a pre-K through 12 school on property purchased by FASNY.

A for-sale home in Larchmont, asking $1.4 million

High residential prices in New York City are driving buyers to suburbs, where they're bidding up prices on one- to two-million-dollar homes near train lines. Towns like Larchmont, Irvington, Bronxville, White Plains and Pelham in Westchester seemed to be the central hub of activity, with homes selling at or above their asking prices between 23 and 44 percent of the time, according to appraiser Miller Samuel.
