When Steve Siegel, 79, of White Plains hits the streets of Brooklyn on Saturday to take part in the Airbnb Brooklyn Half Marathon, it will be the 97th time he has run a half-marathon in 38 years. And while he might not run the entire race, mixing in a little walking, then running again, Siegel said running is a big part of his life, something he still does three to four days a week as part of the New York Road Runners, the organization behind the NYC Marathon and many other races year-round.
