An Indian-born businessman says a Paramus auto dealership discriminated against him by refusing to sell him a Mercedes-Benz vehicle, because the dealership was worried that he might send it to the Islamic fundamentalist group the Taliban. Surjeet Bassi, who lives in Orange County, N.Y., made the accusations in a federal lawsuit filed in White Plains, N.Y. According to the suit and Bassi's lawyer, Michael Sussman, Bassi visited Prestige in June and reached an agreement with a salesman to buy a new Mercedes van for his Middletown, N.Y.-based medical transport company.
