Welcomemat Services CEO Sees Small Business Successes In White Plains

As communities in Westchester get ready to observe Small Business Saturday, a company in neighboring Orange County is keeping an eye on White Plains. Brian Mattingly, chief executive officer of Welcomemat Services in Middletown, N.Y., talked to Daily Voice about how his New York franchise - the national company has locations in 22 states - has identified the city among his company's emerging markets in 2017.

Indian-born customer says dealer refused to sell to him

An Indian-born businessman says a Paramus auto dealership discriminated against him by refusing to sell him a Mercedes-Benz vehicle, because the dealership was worried that he might send it to the Islamic fundamentalist group the Taliban. Surjeet Bassi, who lives in Orange County, N.Y., made the accusations in a federal lawsuit filed in White Plains, N.Y. According to the suit and Bassi's lawyer, Michael Sussman, Bassi visited Prestige in June and reached an agreement with a salesman to buy a new Mercedes van for his Middletown, N.Y.-based medical transport company.
