Metro-North Harlem Line Adjusts Schedule After Train Hits Tree

Service resumed with schedule adjustments on Metro-North's Harlem Line from Grand Central to Wassaic late Monday afternoon after downed trees were cleared at several locations, including an incident near the Hawthorne station in which a rail car derailed after hitting a tree. Only one of two tracks are back in service in the vicinity of North White Plains and Pleasantville while crews make repairs.

Metro-North Harlem line customers were told to prepare for service disruptions during the evening commute Monday after a train struck a tree felled by high winds north of Hawthorne. Train delays and cancelations were expected north of North White Plains while crews worked to re-rail the first car of the train and repair about 100 feet of damaged track, according to the MTA .
