On Thursday, Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano and Police Commissioner Charles Gardner braved the "bomb cyclone" conditions outside to welcome its six newest officers, who will now enter training. The new hires include: Liam Deane, Adam Sousa, Rui Sousas, Daniel Piparo, Connor McMullen and Vanessa Antepara, who graduated from an orientation program at police headquarters.

A Westchester County teenager has pleaded guilty for his role in a fatal stabbing at a Yonkers movie theater last year. Yonkers resident Michael Pettiford, 16, has pleaded guilty to felony counts of manslaughter and robbery after being indicted on murder charges last June, Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr. announced on Friday.
