Dog Dies, Five Firefighters Injured In Yonkers Fire

An early morning fire in Yonkers caused by a space heater ended with the death of a dog and injuries to five firefighters. The initial call came in around 2:19 a.m. Thursday for what was believed to be an oil burner fire in a two-story wood frame residential dwelling at 10 Lewis St., said Yonkers Deputy Fire Chief Joseph DeLasho.

A motor-vehicle stop led to drug charges for a Rockland County woman was busted by state police on I-87 in Yonkers while in possession of cocaine and marijuana over the weekend. Shortly after 1:45 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 14, state police troopers stopped Tomkins Cove resident Tanisha Jacobs, 41, on the interstate for an equipment violation.
