Two Charged In Westchester Mail Theft Spree

Yonkers residents Steven Carson, 27 and Derek Brown, 28, were charged in White Plains Federal Court this week on charges claiming that they went on a mail theft spree involving United States Postal Service mailboxes. According to the complaint that was unsealed in court on Thursday, on April 2, Brown allegedly redeemed a stolen gift card at a Gap store on the same day a victim in Bronxville mailed the card.

Ex-Postal Worker Charged In Connection With Westchester Mail Thefts

A former U.S. Postal Service employee who recently resigned from her post in Yonkers is among two who local residents who have been arrested in connection to mail theft in the area. Following the recent rash of recently reported stolen mail in the region - which has led to multiple arrests in multiple cases in Westchester - Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano and Police Commissioner Charles Gardner announced the arrest of two School Street residents who are facing multiple charges for their alleged role in mail theft.

Yonkers Officials Call On U.S. Postal Service Following Mail Thefts

Officials in Yonkers have become the latest to call on the United States Postal Service to address the recent spate of mailbox fishing and theft incidents throughout the Hudson Valley. Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano and Police Commissioner Charles Gardner gathered this week on South Broadway to call on the USPS, citing more than 80 reported incidents of theft in the city and nearly $700,000 that were withdrawn from bank accounts belonging to Yonkers residents this year alone.

The North Salem counselor who pleaded guilty to inappropriately touching two teenage patients in his Bronxville office in 2014 has reported a move into Yonkers.
