Teen Faces Life Sentence After Admitting To Shooting Police Officer In Westchester

A Westchester teenager is facing life in prison after pleading guilty to shooting a Yonkers police officer last year and to his involvement in a separate New Rochelle shooting. New Rochelle resident Frank Valencia, 19, has pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted aggravated murder and one count of criminal possession of a weapon for his involvement in a standoff involving Officer Kayla Maher, who was shot in the jaw.

Three arrested and charged in burglary, home invasion

Three men were arrested and charged with a burglary that took place during a home invasion in the Center late Friday night. According to the Shelter Island Police Department, Kevin E. Calderon, 26, of the Bronx, Livo Josue Melo, 27, of the Bronx, and Sivestro Mazzella, 70, of Yonkers, New York were arrested in Yonkers early Saturday by Shelter Island Police Department officers with assistance from the Yonkers Police Department and brought to Shelter Island for arraignment.

A member of the Genevose Crime Family of La Cosa Nostra already charged with the stabbing death of a Westchester man is now facing new charges for destroying evidence and obstructing justice, prosecutors announced. John Tortora Jr., known as "Johnny T," was arrested in August by FBI agents and Yonkers Police in connection with the 1997 death of 29-year-old Richard Ortiz in Yonkers.

Wanted Blood Stones Gang Member Known As ‘Flee’ Nabbed By Police Detectives In Westchester

Over the last several weeks, investigators with the Gang Unit developed information on the whereabouts of Rahkim "Flee" Shealy, and on Thursday night, Yonkers Police detectives placed him into custody without incident at a location on Orchard Place. Shealy, of Yonkers, was booked on charges of conspiracy, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon and arraigned today at the Westchester County Court.
