One Dangerous Coyote At Large, Another Killed In Southern Westchester

While one coyote has been dealt with in Yonkers after attacking several people and killing a small dog in Greenburgh, police are warning about a second that they are tracking down who could be a danger in the area. The Yonkers Police Department issued an alert late on Thursday evening about the coyote, which remains at large, as members of the Emergency Service Unit work with members of the Westchester Department of Public Safety in an attempt to locate it.

Coyote Ugly: New Westchester Attack Reported

A new coyote attack has been reported in Westchester County, after the animal took a swipe at a woman riding her bike in Yonkers on Thursday afternoon, according to multiple reports. A coyote lunged at the woman riding on the Westchester County Bike Trail near Tuckahoe Road in Yonkers shortly before 3 p.m. on Thursday, March 1. The attack comes on the heels of three other coyote attacks that have been reported in two days in Hastings-on-Hudson and Yonkers.

Man Enters Plea To New Charges In Yonkers Crash That Killed Teen

The driver of a BMW that crashed in Yonkers last year, killing his teenage passenger, has pleaded not guilty to new charges related to the fatal crash. Renzo Yance, 21, appeared at the Westchester County Courthouse in White Plains on Tuesday after recently being indicted on charges that include felony counts of second-degree manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

Bill Protecting Hudson Valley Waterfronts From Barges Signed By Cuomo

Following an impassioned plea from Hudson Valley officials and environmental organizations, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has signed a bill into law that will protect the Hudson River from barges carrying fracked oil. Earlier this year , bi-partisan Hudson Valley officials came together at the Yonkers waterfront to announce additional legislation that would stop the U.S. Coast Guard's proposal that includes the installation of 16 anchor berths across 715 acres on the water between Yonkers and Dobbs Ferry.
