Those opposed to federal government-imposed rules about anchorage sites along the Hudson River from Yonkers to Kingston want a meeting, but one will not take place until spring, reported lohud.com. The proposal is to place 10 formal commercial anchorage sites along the Hudson River, including three in the Lower Hudson Valley at Stony Point, Montrose and Yonkers.
A proposal to place 10 formal commercial anchorage sites along the Hudson River, including three in the Lower Hudson Valley at Stony Point, Montrose, and Yonkers has prompted the two New York Senators to call for a public hearing, lohud.com reported. A public hearing is being requested of the U.S. Coast Guard by Sens. Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand over the anchorage sites, which are considered necessary for safe navigation up the river.
This event is being organized to publicize awareness and support for the bipartisan legislation " Made in America Manfuactoring Communities Act ," that will benefit local businesses in New York State and the City of Yonkers by bringing together resources of multiple federal agcencies that drive business development in the local community. The legislation will stimulate the manufacturing industry and help create well-paying jobs in Westchester County by creating a permanent program that designates local regions as "Manufacturing Communities," which would put them in the front of the line to receive federal economic development funding specifically for the purpose of investing in manufacturing.
