Bob and Betty Marrs of Amarillo will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary with a family home gathering on January 16th. Mr. Marrs married the former Betty Lucas in Coffeyville, Kan., on January 16, 1947, soon after being discharged from the army after World War II.

Herring Holiday Ball welcomes visitors to historic beauty

A night of food, music and dancing will greet visitors to the 14-story historic hotel, all in an effort to raise funds for the Children’s Miracle Network. When taking students on a field trip through the Amarillo Botanical Gardens as a part of the ABG education programs, I discuss the many different types of gardens that are possible. We discover that there are many different types of gardens that are not named by any botanical standard; rather, the names are generally descriptive of the garden.
