Chris Christie: No White House or radio gig

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie says he has not accepted a White House job and is not seeking a job with a sports radio station in New York City. The Republican spoke by telephone Thursday on WFAN’s “Boomer and Carton” program, one day after The Record reported the station’s program director said he would consider Christie among “plenty of candidates” to replace afternoon host Mike Francesca.

Joe Piscopo: I’m not raising money to be N.J. governor — yet

“I’m not raising money, and I haven’t officially declared,” said Piscopo in an telephone interview with NJ Advance Media on Thursday afternoon. The former “Saturday Night Live” star, who was raised in North Caldwell and now lives in Lebanon Township in Hunterdon County, said he is “just doing due diligence” and exploring a run for governor, speaking to Republican leaders in the state about what would be involved.

The Democrat-led New Jersey Assembly and Senate advanced legislation to let Republican Gov. Chris Christie cash in on a book deal before he leaves office while also raising legislative staff, judges’ and other officials’ salaries. The Assembly Appropriations Committee Thursday voted 8-0, with two abstentions, to advance the measure, hours after the Senate Budget Committee voted 9-3 for the bill.
