Run-DMC Sues Wal-Mart, Amazon for $50 Million

Run-DMC filed a $50 million lawsuit in New York accusing Wal-Mart, Amazon, Jet and other retailers of selling products that traded on the rap group’s name without permission. A founder of the group and owner of the Run-DMC brand, Darryl “DMC” McDaniels, was listed as the plaintiff in the lawsuit, which was filed Thursday in the Southern District of New York.

Hip-hop star Chance the Rapper made sure to hit a high note on the final Christmas before Donald Trump’s presidency. The Chicago-born artist starred in a musical sketch on “Saturday Night Live” celebrating the last Dec. 25 of President Obama’s eight years in office, teaming up with cast member Kenan Thompson in a parody of the Run-DMC holiday hit “Christmas in Hollis.”

Not only did the Grammy-nominated artist serve as musical guest for the NBC show’s midseason finale, but he appeared in a sketch about a low-budget Christmas play and starred in “Jingle Barack,” a parody of Run-DMC’s 1987 classic ” Christmas in Hollis .” Along with cast member Kenan Thompson, the pair raps about “the last Christmas with Barack still here” and all the things to do before President-elect Donald Trump takes office: “Imma hurt myself before we lose Obamacare;” put “birth control under the tree;” and “go nuts before the North Pole disappears.”
