The Academy Announces Theme, Creative Team for Governors Ball

That’s the theme of this year’s Governors Ball, just one of a number of details announced on Friday about the exclusive post-Oscar celebration that will follow the 89th annual Academy Awards on Feb. 26. Governors Ball veterans – Academy governor Jeffrey Kurland, event producer Cheryl Cecchetto and master chef Wolfgang Puck – are back on board this year to help create the entire evening for the 1,500 invited guests who will party inside the Ray Dolby Ballroom on the top level of the Hollywood & Highland Center. As the chair of the Governors Ball, Kurland has his hands in everything, overseeing dcor, menu and entertainment planning, and staff attire, all of which are details he’s familiar with after serving as chair for eight years.
