Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima has explained that the company will add VR support to its upcoming Switch console if it can resolve issues of comfort over long periods of use. Speaking to Nikkei , Kimishima explained that the company is “studying” how to implement virtual reality, but brought up its key concern in the process: “If we are able to resolve the issues with playing [VR] comfortably for long hours, we will support it in one form or another.”

Of that 78m, around 4m went on to pay its one-time unlock fee – a good but not amazing conversion rate of around five per cent. The company’s mascot jogged onto iPhone and iPad on 15th December last year – and was quickly downloaded 40m times in just four days.

Nintendo Co Ltd cut its operating profit forecast for the year ending March to 20 billion yen from 30 billion yen, though a weaker yen and revenue from mobile gaming helped the videogames maker to its first quarterly profit in a year. October-December profit reached 32.3 billion yen from 33.5 billion yen a year earlier, the Japanese firm said on Tuesday.
