In a demonstration organized by the International Center for Advanced Internet Research at Northwestern University and the Advanced Internet Research group of the University of Amsterdam, researchers utilized computing clusters in San Diego and Amsterdam to give an example of how computation doesn’t need to be localized within a data center, but can instead be migrated across geographical distances to run applications and external clients with minimal downtime. Nanoscience expert receives 2016 Dickson Prize in Science

Chad A. Mirkin, the George B. Rathmann Professor of Chemistry in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences and director of the International Institute for Nanotechnology at Northwestern University, has been awarded the 2016 Dickson Prize in Science. The prize is awarded annually by Carnegie Mellon University to an individual in the U.S. who has made outstanding contributions to science.
